The company is the world's leading supplier of rolled aluminium products for heat exchangers; the company recently announced that it will invest US$26 million in 3003H14 aluminum foil production facilities in Newport, Arkansas. The investment will be used to upgrade existing rolling mills and production equipment. Production restart will begin in the first quarter of 2019.

Johan Menckel, CEO of the company, said: “This is a good opportunity for us. This investment can upgrade our current assets and can open up the market for our import services; this investment is expected. It will have a positive impact on income in 2019 and beyond."
The aluminum foil production plant mainly produces 5052H18 aluminum foil for consumer products; it remained in normal operation until 2015; it was subsequently shut down due to very limited surface treatment operations. The Newport aluminum foil production plant is part of Nolanda's aluminum rolling business, which was acquired by Grandis in 2016.

The company said that Newport’s short-term production capacity will be 20,000 tons per year, and it is expected that capacity will increase in the next few years.
